How to Plan a Weekend Adults Only Disney Trip

IMG_6325

I just got back from yet another amazing adults only Disney trip. Of course I love taking my kids to Disney but there are also plenty of things that are just more geared towards the adults. Whether it’s a weekend away with your best friend or your spouse or even a bachelorette party, Disney has something for everyone.

When I go with kids, it’s a lot of waiting in lines for rides and running to character meet and greets. My FAVORITE way to do Disney is relaxed and leisurely. As a former Cast Member, I got to experience A LOT, but I still try to experience a few new things each time. I know you don’t have all day so below you’ll find a quick recap of my most recent trip the the happiest place on earth.

Where we stayed

We stayed at the Wyndham Lake Buena Vista, right next to Disney Springs. Disney and Orlando in general have some AMAZING resorts. But, I find that I don’t spend a ton of time where I’m sleeping so rather than looking for the most stunning resort, a top priority for me is location.

I love that the Wyndham is a stones throw away from Disney Springs. I’ve also stayed across the street at the Hilton a few times which is wonderful as well. These 2 are the closest to Disney Springs which gives you prime access to all the entertainment, shopping and dining options you could ever want. Our first day in Orlando we walked over to Earl of Sandwich for breakfast, grabbed Starbucks and hopped on a bus to the Polynesian so we could take the monorail to Magic Kingdom.

The lobby has lots of snacks, coffee, etc as well as a nice little bar. It has a lovely pool area and rooms are clean and well maintained. Again, is it the Grand Floridian? No. Does it have everything you need, a convenient location, extra magic hours access with a WAY smaller price tag? Heck yes.

What We Ate and Drank

This was a VERY quick trip, one full day in the parks to be exact so this list isn’t going to be very big but we tried. Breakfast was enjoyed at the always delicious and budget friendly Earl of Sandwich in Disney Springs. BONUS: they offer the full menu all day so if you’re like me and will eat anything at any time of the day, you can get the Holiday Turkey at 9:00am.

What’s an adults only trip Disney trip without eating in a castle? That was my way of saying we also went to Cinderella’s Royal Table. The price tag here is rather high but the atmosphere and service are amazing (tell Sir Scotty I sent you). I always love the beef tenderloin here but if you don’t mind needing a nap after, the stuffed French toast is great too. Most of what we ate/drank was food and wine style so I’ll make the rest quick for you…

STK: Cucumber Stiletto Martini, Spiced Watermelon Martini, Bag O Donuts

*Both drinks were amazing, great flavor, light and not too sweet. The spiced watermelon was spicy but not overpowering. Bag O donuts were good but wouldn’t need to get them again. Atmosphere was stunning, can’t wait to go back.

Jock Lindsey’s Hanger Bar: Cool Headed Monkey

*Fun, casual atmosphere, drink came in a cool cup and was on the sweet side but good

The Boathouse: Duck Duck Razz

*Great location and view but the drink was way too sweet. I 100% ordered it for the rubber duck that came inside it and won’t do that again.

Polite Pig: Brisket Sandwich

*Pickled jalapeños and onion straws? Yes please. This was delicious.

Canada: Filet Mignon

*I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve gotten this. It’s amazing, every time.

Greece: Griddled Cheese with pistachios and honey

*So so good. I’ve tried to recreate it at home MANY times and have yet to succeed.

Brazil: Pão de Queijo: Brazilian cheese bread

*Delicious and an easy one to share because you get 2 pieces.

What We Did

Most of our trip was spent walking around, taking in the sights, eating and shopping. Again, my idea of a good time at Disney is keeping it leisurely. It’s a completely different experience as  a mom when you’re not having to be hyper aware of when someone else used the bathroom.

One of the new things I tried was riding the skyliner just for the sake of riding it. We stopped off at different resorts like the stunning Riviera and made some pretty amazing friends while there.

We also took a bus ride to Port Orleans French Quarter for some beignets and then a lovely boat ride to Disney Springs.

Please keep in mind, we were only at Disney for one full day so I’m leaving out A LOT of options that Disney has to offer. The point of this post was to show you that you and your best friend can have a great adults only Disney trip in a short amount of time. Please feel free to message me with questions about this trip or any others I’ve taken. Odds are, I’m planning one right now 🙂
